What are your thoughts, should the Guyanas be counted as part of South America or the Caribbean because of the difference in language?

If we judge by the language issue then Brazil is out.  Tongue They are and should be in South America regardless of the language issue.

I think a lot of people see Brazil as 'Spanish' because Portuguese and Spanish are very similar, but that is a good point. I am still trying to understand how Guyana is included as part of the 'Caribbean'.

Maybe because culturally they seem to have more things in common with the Caribbean region than South America. They speak a dialect similar to the one in the West Indies, the food is similar, the ethnicities as well, etc.

I don't know about that. It is just Georgetown you are referring to. The rest of Guyana might actually be closer to Brazil.
